Leaf Viewer for developers: licence terms
These terms are between you (the business or person named on the licence) and Ontiqo Pty Ltd (“we”). They apply to the Leaf Viewer files you download from leafviewer.app/developers/docs to run in your own website (“the viewer”) and to the licence key that goes with them.
1. What you may do
While your licence is active, you may put the viewer on the websites named on your licence and proved yours with the file we give you (and their subdomains) and let your visitors use it there, up to your plan’s documents viewed each month. You may change the viewer’s options and style its surroundings. You may make copies needed to run it, test it and keep backups.
2. What you may not do
- Use the viewer, or your key, on a website your licence doesn’t name.
- Remove or hide the licence check, the “Leaf Viewer” mark where the viewer shows it, or our notices.
- Sell, sublicense or give the viewer to others as a product, a library or a service of its own, or use it to make one that competes with Leaf Viewer.
- Modify, decompile or reverse engineer the viewer, except as far as the law allows despite this.
3. Views, extra views and the mark
A view is one document opened in the viewer. When your websites have used your plan’s views in a calendar month, extra views you have bought are used (they are kept until used). With none left, or where the viewer runs on a website your licence doesn’t cover or that isn’t proved yours, your visitors see a short message in place of the document. We email you as your views run low. A Community licence shows a small “Leaf Viewer” mark. Pages on localhost and .test addresses are not counted.
4. Your visitors’ files
The viewer opens files in your visitor’s browser. It sends us only your key, the website’s address (as the browser gives it) and that a document was opened: never the file, its name or anything in it. You are responsible for the files your website shows and for telling your visitors how your website handles their information.
5. Plans, payment and cancelling
Starter and Business are subscriptions, yearly or monthly, paid in advance through our payment provider, Polar, and renewed until you cancel. You can cancel at any time; your licence then lasts to the end of the period paid for. Extra views are bought ahead and kept until used. Pay as you go is a monthly subscription with no fixed fee: we report the extra views used each hour and Polar charges US$1 per 1,000 at the end of each month, never more than the monthly limit you set. Community and Enterprise licences are granted by us, on the terms we agree with you, and a Community licence may be withdrawn if it is used commercially.
6. Other people’s components
The viewer contains open-source components by others, listed with their licences in the viewer’s notices file. Their licences apply to those components, and nothing here limits your rights under them.
7. Updates and support
We publish new versions of the viewer from time to time, and you may use any version released while your licence is active. We answer questions sent through support.
8. Warranty and liability
The viewer is provided as it is. As far as the law allows, we give no warranty that it will show every file correctly or work without interruption, and our total liability to you is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be excluded.
9. Ending
Your licence ends when your subscription or grant ends, or if you break these terms and don’t put it right within 14 days of our asking. When it ends, remove the viewer from your websites.
10. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. If a provision is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. We may update these terms for later versions; the terms in force when your subscription renews apply from then.
11. The conversion API
These terms also cover the Leaf conversion API (convert.leafviewer.app/v1/api). You may use it from your own software and services, with keys you make in the Ontiqo console (console.ontiqo.com) and keep secret; you are responsible for what is done with your keys. Conversions are priced by the time they take, at US$0.01 for each started minute of conversion time (a long film's converter counts eight minutes for each it works). Minutes bought ahead are kept until used; pay per use is a monthly subscription with no fixed fee, charged by Polar at the end of each month for the minutes used, never more than the monthly limit you set (a conversion already under way when the limit is reached is finished and charged). A conversion that fails is not charged.
The files you send are converted and deleted straight away (a long film and its MP4 within 24 hours): we keep no copy, and never look at them. You must have the right to convert the files you send. You may not use the API to offer file conversion as a service of its own that competes with leafviewer.app, or send more than is reasonable for the plan you chose; we may limit or pause a key that is used abusively.
